“On a stone pillar, about three feet high, sat a bed of blue fire that washed every surrounding surface and leaf in a shade of indigo.” –Ellie Maureen
Hello Goodie Two Shoes!!
The story behind this purchase decision is probably the best one I have.
So, a couple months ago, one of my friends on Instagram messaged me. She said that she was going to an art show in Madison, Wisconsin, and that it was only three hours away from where I live, so would I maybe like to go visit her?
And of course, I said yes!
It’s not every day that you go to meet an author in person, so of course, I had to get her to sign my copies of her books. And, at the time, I had only purchased the first one. 😅
I know. I failed. I’m a terrible friend.
So I bought her second book like a week before the trip, it arrived, I started reading it.
Then, on Saturday morning, my mom, my brother and I all piled into the car and drove up to Wisconsin to meet The Ellie Maureen!
And we had the best day ever.
The reel she made is the best summary of our trip!
Thank you Ellie, for the best day ever!
Now let’s get into book talk!
This book was even better than the first one!
I really enjoyed it, and I could kind of see the acts in the story.
It was also so much fun being able to talk about the book with my friend while I was reading it.
Kiara and Hadyn have escaped Caverna, but this new world in the jungle may prove to be an even more treacherous adventure.
I thought this book worked pretty well! I could see an outline of each act
We had a mentor character, and even though he didn’t die, they did leave him, which I think fulfilled the “mentor death” obligatory scene. I really hope we get to see him again later in the series!
The book was a lot more cohesive compared to the first one. Ellie progressed a lot in her writing and I’m very proud of her!
There is a tiny bit of violence, but you know how I feel about that. 100% clean on my system!
I really liked this book! I can’t wait to read this series again, and I think this one is so good that I’ll reread it! I’m looking forward to that!
I also love how many different types of character’s Ellie has, and all the accents and languages she represents in her stories.
And that gorgeous cover? It’s a scene at the very end of part 1! And a stunning representation at that!
Basically, what are you waiting for? Go check out these books!!
